Get Kristina’s Killer Bod September 23, 2010 at 8:56
Sassy Fit caught up with the super cool E! News Correspondent, Kristina Guerrero to get the skinny on how she stays fit, her favorite meal, and latest diet craze in Hollywood.
Sassy Fit (SF) Hey girl! Thanks so much for taking a few minutes to chat. You looked amazing at the Emmys! We’re excited to hear all about how you balance a successful career, family, and your own personal wellness.
Kristina Guerrero (KG) Hi ladies! Thanks so much! It can get a little hectic at times — when I’m busy, I’m really busy but when I have down time I really value that. I turn off my phone, no Facebook, twitter, email—just a lot of chill out time because the next wave of crazy is about to come back in!
SF Let’s talk about food. It must be challenging to eat well when you’re always go-go-go but you must have found a solution that works to keep you energized and looking great. What’s your secret and how can other busy women eat right when it seems like an impossible task?
KG It is challenging and I would love to say I am a perfect eater, but nope – I snack throughout the day and then have a big dinner. I love dinner and cooking at home – my specialty is filet mignon, asparagus and salad. You have to make a healthy lifestyle around the things you enjoy otherwise you won’t stick with it. I would rather eat light throughout the day so I can enjoy my favorite meal with friends and family at night. When I’m on set or at an event, I make sure my portions stay small. I’ll have a nibble of this or that so I don’t feel deprived, but I make sure I fill up on the good stuff. When I need to slim down, I drink lots of water with lemon and meals high in protein and fiber. I avoid carbs and booze.
SF Do you feel a pressure to “look” a certain way since you are around gorgeous celebrities, beautiful models, and hot dudes all the time?
KG You know what, there is always going to be that pressure. But I think all women (and men too!) feel it from time to time – there are always going to be “bright young things’ at your job or in your social circle that will give your confidence a run for its money. You learn very quickly in this industry not to compare yourself to others because you will never be happy. Instead, I have become hooked on exercise and the way it makes me feel. I always remind myself that I am one workout away from a good mood and the pressure I feel now is mostly self-driven because I know working out is so good for me.
SF What exercises keep you looking and feeling great?
KG I hike in the hills in and around Hollywood. It’s a great workout and usually amazing views. I also take a class called Cardiobarre which is a combination of cardio and ballet technique. It’s the latest craze in LA – that and yoga, of course! Fusion classes like Yogalates are also fun and really popular.
SF What is your favorite confidence boosting exercise?
KG Running. I’m not a big runner but anytime i can get through a three+ mile run, I’m stoked! If I only have a few minutes to workout, I’ll do core exercises. I believe you can always find the time to work out – even if it’s just three days a week.
SF Okay, we have to ask! What are some Hollywood get-fit-quick secrets that you’ve heard about?
)
KG Cleanses. A lot of people are opting for cleanses to rid your body of yucky stuff in three to five days. I have friends that have dropped 7 pounds in a week because of cleanses! The Baby Food Diet cleanse is very popular right now.
SF The Baby Food Diet? Do we even want to know???
KG I know, right? It’s exactly what it sounds like; you eat a bunch of little jars of baby food instead of meals every day. It’s supposed to help control portions, be nutritious and low in preservatives and pesticides … but it’s totally a fad.
SF Do you have a fitness ‘role model’ or inspiration?
KG I recently interviewed Jennifer Aniston and she has a body i would kill for! Long and lean and healthy but i love reading about how she loves wine and sips vodka. That’s my kinda life!!
Thanks so much, Kristina! You can watch Kristina delivering the latest celebrity scoop on E! News, Weeknights at 7/6c and 11:30/10:30c.
